Hi smartest students in all the land,
First of all, I want to recommend that you purchase as many of your books as you can from BIPOC bookstores. Here is a link to the one in Portland. https://thirdeyebag.com/ If they don't have it, Broadway Books does curbside pickup and is owned by women. http://www.broadwaybooks.com/ Let's decrease our dependency on billionaires like Amazon and start supporting our community.
As a super book nerd and former recovering book addict, (turns out you can numb out with books as easily as you can with anything,) I have been reading a ton this summer.
Here it goes.
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson (Yoga Homework.)
Long Walk To Freedom by Nelson Mandela (I listen to this on Audio with my 12 year old son)
Anne Frank : The Diary of A Young Girl (my son and I read this aloud to one another.)
Love and Rage by Lama Rod Owens
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
How To Be An AntiRacist by Ibram x. Kendi (He also just came out for one that is for young adults called Stamped From The Beginning that I'm going to order from Third Eye today for my son.)
This Naked Mind by Annie Grace (I am always sober curious and have completely changed my relationship with alcohol because of this book. It's poison ya'll. I don't know if I will always be a sober person, so please don't think I am making an identity out of it. It's more of a choice right now. Remember, the inquiry is--what am I taking with me out of this pandemic? I want a strong body and mind, healthy relationships and clarity of purpose.)
Comedy Sex God by Pete Holmes (You all know I love a good Christian-turns-mystic healing story, as I strongly identify with that story myself. Thank you, Amy Speciale for this. I am devouring it.)
